Become a Trustee at Love & Loss
Love & Loss is seeking caring, dedicated leaders to join our Board of Trustees. If you’re passionate about supporting families and young people impacted by violent crime, you could help shape the future of this vital organisation.
As a Trustee, you will:
-
Provide strategic direction and oversight, ensuring that our mission to support those left behind through emotional, financial, and practical assistance continues to grow and thrive.
-
Help uphold best practice in governance, safeguarding, finance, and compliance.
-
Bring your skills—whether in fundraising, legal, accounting, communications or community outreach—and collaborate with a dynamic team of volunteers and staff.
-
Be an ambassador for Love & Loss, raising awareness, building partnerships, and helping secure the resources needed to deliver our support programmes.
We value:
-
Integrity, empathy, and a strong commitment to victims of violent crime.
-
Good judgement, strategic thinking, and ability to work well in a team.
-
Some experience of governance, finance, or leadership in the third sector (helpful, though not essential).
Why join us?
Because at Love & Loss, your contribution as Trustee will make a real and lasting difference. You’ll help transform grief into practical support, isolation into community, and loss into hope.
If you believe in our mission and want to help ensure every family and young person impacted by violent crime has access to the help they deserve, we would love to hear from you.

● Donate: Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us provide counselling, emergency financial aid, and support groups for families in need.
● Volunteer: Share your time and skills to help us organize events, provide outreach, wellbeing workshops, or assist with administrative tasks.
● Raise Awareness: Together, we can make a bigger impact. Share our mission with your community. Follow us on social media, host a fundraiser, or simply start a conversation about the importance of supporting victims and their families.

HOW WE HELP
How Love & Loss Can Support You
At Love and Loss, we believe that understanding the far-reaching impact of violent crime is essential to fostering a more compassionate society. Together, we can work to ease the burden on families and help them rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
Emotional Toll:
Families often experience profound grief, PTSD, anxiety, and depression following the loss of a loved one to violent crime.
Financial Strain
Unexpected costs such as funeral expenses, legal fees, and loss of income can plunge families into financial hardship.
Social Isolation
Many families feel isolated or stigmatized, struggling to find support within their communities.
Long-term Effects
The trauma of violent crime can have lasting effects on physical and mental health, relationships, and overall quality of life.
Children and Youth
Children who lose a parent or sibling to violence are particularly vulnerable, facing challenges in emotional development, academic performance, and social interactions.
London has seen a marked rise in violent crime, including a 38% increase in knife crimes since 2016, which has become a significant issue in the city's ongoing efforts to combat crime
