About Love and Loss

On a sunny day on June 10th 2015 our beautiful boy (Son, brother, nephew) Stefan was chased and fatally stabbed while with his friends in the Nightingale park, Islington. From that moment on our lives changed and will never be the same again.

Devastated and lost after such a heartbreaking and traumatic loss, followed by an 8 week trial at the Old Bailey we decided to set up a support group where families experiencing the same heartbreak and trauma could come together.

Love and Loss has been running as a support group since 2016 receiving official registered charity status with the charity commission in April 2024.

Our organisation is a peer/family led charity providing support for families and loved ones affected and bereaved through violent crime. It also raises awareness of the effects violent crime had on the community and young people to raise awareness and prevent young people from getting involved in violent crime/activity.

We are a key part of Arsenal – Adidas No more Red campaign bringing awareness to knife crime.

We support through providing a safe space for families and loved ones to find comfort in being among others who have experienced a similar loss to them. Losing a loved one to Manslaughter or Murder is a devastating traumatic and unique type of loss. The families we support have become a great source of strength and courage to one another. We talk about our experiences, our feelings without fear of judgement and knowing everyone knows where you’re coming from.

We  host a range of activities and events aimed at creating a sense of community and providing a calm therapeutic space for families to unwind.

These have included

Day Trips
Football matches
Christmas Dinners
Therapeutic Arts workshops

Financial Support
We are able to offer assistance to help cover costs associated with the sudden and traumatic loss of a loved one through Murder or Manslaughter

Advocacy & Personal Support
Peer support
Telephone support

We can also refer to services such as counselling and alternative therapies.

London has seen a marked rise in violent crime, including a 38% increase in knife crimes since 2016, which has become a significant issue in the city's ongoing efforts to combat crime
